Erin Maassen 0 116

The Park Board is looking for interested candidates to fill the vacancy on the Park Board left by Brandon Hinkle, who resigned due to a move out of state. Per state statute, an appointment to a vacancy on the Park Board may be made by the Board President and confirmed by the Board of Park Commissioners.

In order to be considered, complete the application  and return it to Once received, a meeting will be scheduled with the Board of Park Commissioners to discuss your application. The Commissioners will then vote, at a public meeting, appointing a replacement for the vacant seat.

Phase 5 Guidelines

Masks No Longer Required Outdoors

Erin Maassen 0 207
Glencoe Park District is proud to join the state of Illinois in moving to Phase 5 on Friday, June 11. As we prepare for the next phase, we’d like to share how this will affect summer programming and operations, including camp. Throughout the pandemic, we’ve followed federal, state, and local guidelines for our operations. Recently, as restrictions have loosened, guidelines have shifted quickly (and often conflicted with older guidelines). As we head into summer, we will follow CDC and DCFS guidelines. This means no masks for outdoor programs and masks are required indoors for programs that contain children under age 12.

Erin Maassen 0 1875

We're celebrating Independence Day with a fun run, preschool and family games, a parade, and live music! All activities are free and open to the public!

Please note, due to the ongoing pandemic, fireworks will not take place on July 4. Please join us on  Friday, September 3 for Summer's Last Blast, featuring live music by The Empty Pockets and a fireworks show at Lakefront Park. The fun starts at 6 PM.

Glencoe Beach will be open to season pass holders only on July 4th from 10 AM to 7 PM. A steel drum band will perform live music from 1-4 PM at the beach.

Masks required in public areas for ages 2 and up

Erin Maassen 0 294

After reviewing updated CDC and State of Illinois face mask recommendations, the Glencoe Park District Board of Commissioners has approved new guidelines:

  • Masks must be worn at all times by unvaccinated individuals age 2 and up.

  • Masks must be worn at all times by staff, parents, and children in our Early Childhood wing. This rule is mandated by our DCFS childcare license.

  • Masks must be worn at all times by staff, participants, and programs at any Park District program that includes children under age 12. This is to protect individuals ineligible for vaccination.

  • Masks must be worn in "common spaces" at Park District facilities, including restrooms, hallways, lobbies, and entrances. This is to protect individuals ineligible for vaccination.

  • Vaccinated individuals participating in programs with others over the age of 12 can choose to remove their masks once they arrive in their program space. This includes, but is not limited to, Glencoe Fitness, fitness classes, adult art, and adult ceramics programs, as well as some staff-only spaces. A sign will be posted in these spaces that states "By entering this room without a face mask, you are verifying truthfully that you have been fully vaccinated or have an exemption from the Glencoe Park District." Mask-only times will continue to be offered at Glencoe Fitness.

After wearing masks for a year, we know this is exciting news for those who are fully vaccinated. We hope to have further clarification soon on outdoor programs and facilities. We will update you when changes to these guidelines occur. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work towards a fully re-opened Park District!

    Mask Update

    Erin Maassen 0 237

Yesterday the CDC announced that "fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance." After wearing masks for a year, we know this is exciting news for those who are fully vaccinated.

In response to the CDC announcement, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker stated that he will revise executive orders to align with new CDC guidelines on mask wearing by vaccinated individuals in indoor and outdoor spaces. Until we receive these revised executive orders from the State of Illinois and the corresponding guidelines from our regulatory agencies, masks are still required to be worn at all times in our facilities. As soon as we receive guidelines to adjust operations, which we hope will be very soon, we will make adjustments as quickly as possible and communicate to our patrons.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work towards a fully re-opened Park District!

    Staircase Repair

    Perlman Boating Beach Access

    Erin Maassen 0 269

The staircase leading to the Perlman Boating Beach is scheduled for replacement starting in April. Working with expert civil and structural engineers, the Park District has developed a permanent solution to improve storm water management and install a safe, structurally sound staircase. Furthermore, within the project confines, contractors will install new native erosion-resistant landscaping. This project will temporarily impact the access to the Boating Beach. Every effort is being made to accelerate the process of replacing the stairs. Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely this project will be completed by the traditional start of the Boating season. The Park District will make every effort to limit this project’s impact on the access of the Boating Beach.

    South Overlook Update

    Erin Maassen 0 282
We’re pleased to announce that the Glencoe Park District Board of Commissioners has begun repairs to the South Overlook (the Hazel Avenue overlook at Lakefront Park). The project goal is to repair the existing overlook wall and prevent further erosion to the soils at the base of the wall. Weather depending, construction will be completed by May 31, 2021 (Memorial Day).

Based on the condition of the existing infrastructure at Glencoe Beach, the Park District has undertaken an extensive capital improvement program at this site. This work aims to ensure continued access to the lakefront for this generation of Glencoe residents and the next. 2021 improvements include replacing the Boat House staircase, repairing the Park Avenue Overlook, improvements to the Beach/Water Plant access ramp, exterior maintenance of the Safran Beach House, and repairs to the Glencoe Beach pier.
