The Army Corps of Engineers has approved the Pilot Project for Section 1122 for communities in Glencoe, Lake Bluff, North Chicago, and Evanston.

The Board of Commissioners is exploring the feasibility of adding a dog park to Glencoe.

Connect Glencoe will activate a series of linear parks along Old Green Bay Road. The stretch of land is 0.53 miles (approximately 2,800 feet). The overall design was created to accommodate a variety of users, ages, and abilities. The project will connect five separate parks with a meandering path that takes walkers, runners, and bikers through an urban garden of mature trees. This fall, we’re building a new playground for students to enjoy in the Early Childhood wing! The colorful new space plays with the site’s topography with hillside slides, bright tunnels, and age-appropriate play pieces. Designed by our teachers, the playground emphasizes gross motor skills, as well as the development of social and emotional learning. Construction of the new playground will take place in the fall of 2019.

At Woodlawn Park, movement and sound will be emphasized with a carefully curated collection of play structures. A giant swing bank will include 8 swings for kids to enjoy, while an extra-long pair of zip lines will be a great place to race.

The Board of Commissioners is considering restoring the parkland at Lakefront Park.

The Glencoe Park District working with the Glencoe Historical Society to help preserve Frank Lloyd Wright’s Booth Cottage through a potential land lease of Park 7N (located at Maple Hill Road and Meadow Road).
