Cartooning for Kids with Cheryl Steiger

Grades 4-7, Mondays, 8/31-10/19, 3:30-5:30 PM, virtual, $150/175, 211651-01               

Students will learn to express their ideas through cartooning and shown drawing techniques, characterizations, and how to develop storylines. No class on 9/7, 9/28, and 10/12.

Amazing Art with Sunshine Arts and Crafts

Amazing Art combines all your favorite art projects and mixed media! In this unique class, kids will make tie dye shirts (art smocks for the session), experience pottery painting, create a canvas acrylic painting, make recycled projects, and more! Calling all K-2nd graders! Exercise your brain with Amazing Minds after school, where instructors help sharpen skills in math, science, geography, language arts, and reading through fun, hands-on activities. Science will come alive through our exploration of rocks and minerals, flight, weather, health and safety, and computers. Explore math by learning about money, geometry, and shapes. Travel to China, Ancient Egypt, Italy, and Australia to learn about other cultures, and enjoy our hands-on reading games involving the animal kingdom, ocean creatures, and even the preamble to the Constitution! Llama Pillow with Ciao Bella Sewing

Ages 7-10, Mondays, 9/14-10/5, 4:15-5:00 PM, virtual, $103/113, 211504-01

Dive into the world of hand sewing during this fun and creative four-week virtual class! We will spend the first week reviewing how to hand sew, then begin creating our llama pillows. This is the perfect class for new or returning sewers. All sewing supplies are included and will be mailed to your home; however, you’ll want a hot glue gun for the llama accessories. Sewers need to register at least one-week in advance to receive their sewing kit in the mail and need access to Zoom.

Chess Scholars  

Grades K-2, Thursdays, 9/3-10/29, 3:30-4:30 PM, Takiff Center, $167/184, 211401-04   

Research shows a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Also, chess has been proven to enhance motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both new and returning participants are welcome. There will also be a chess competition with prizes towards the end of the session! No class on 9/7, 9/28, and 10/12. Magic Class with the magic team of Gary Kantor

Coding 1 (Level - Beginner) with the Coder School NEW!

In our introductory Code Class, our coaches use Scratch or Snap! to teach kids using our project-based game development curriculum, in a traditional, class-like environment. By learning through repetition, students will be able to learn the fundamentals of coding in a fun and engaging way. Student will have the opportunity to present a chosen project if interested. Sticky Fingers Cooking

Prepare and eat healthy, globally inspired recipes while learning to cook! Our chefs will reinforce kitchen skills and emphasize each area of cooking - terminology, ingredients, and nutrition. We will practice measurements while using an array of cooking utensils and fresh ingredients. Full recipes are created each week. No class 9/7, 9/28, and 10/12. Youth Ceramics with Natalie Steinmetz

In this all-levels, in-person class, students will use hand-building to create functional and sculptural pieces. This class is designed to accommodate new and returning students.

Sculpting with Model Magic with Natalie Steinmetz

Have fun creating sculptures with Model Magic, an air-drying, non-staining, easy-to- manipulate material! Our instructor will guide children with step-by-step instructions to make their own sculptures, with a new theme each week. All projects are age- appropriate, with no experience necessary or parent participation required. All materials are provided and dropped off at your doorstep. Red, blue, yellow, white, and black colors will be provided. The instructor will demonstrate how to mix them to create a full range of shades. No class 9/18 and 10/9.

Hand Building for Teens with Natalie Steinmetz

Grades 5-8, Thursdays, 9/3-10/22, 5:30-7:30 PM, Takiff Center/virtual, $325/358, 212503-01

This all-levels, hybrid class allows students the choice of working in the studio or from home for the session. The instructor will teach from the studio while broadcasting the demonstrations live on Zoom. Students working from home will have materials and tools provided and have their work fired using a no-contact pickup and drop off system. The instructor will do a new demonstration each week using hand-building techniques. This class is designed to accommodate new and returning students. If COVID restrictions change: class moved online, no refund issued.

Intermediate Clay for Teens with Natalie Steinmetz

Grades 6-12, Tuesdays, 9/1-10/20, 5:30-7:30 PM, Takiff Center/virtual, $325/358, 212504-01

Designed for students with a minimum of two years’ experience. This hybrid class allows students the choice of working in the studio or from home for the session. The instructor will teach from the studio while broadcasting the demonstrations live on Zoom. Students working from home will have materials and tools provided and have their work fired using a no-contact pick up and drop off system. Students will build on their existing skills to create more complex forms and focus on developing their own style. Students must have minimum of two years of wheel throwing experience to use the potters’ wheel. If COVID restrictions change: class moved online, no refund issued.
